Welcome to the June Lake Loop

The June Lake Loop welcomes you! This historic village set among sparkling mountain lakes and towering peaks may not be what you expect in a mountain resort destination. In the heart of Mono County, located centrally among some of the West's worldwide attractions such as Yosemite National Park and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, June Lake enjoys much less notoriety, yet those who know this place will tell you that it is the best mountain retreat on earth. The town, its history, its people and its character are unique and fascinating: and it remains a place where most businesses and properties are privately owned and family operated.

The caption states, "June Lake's Premier community site, since 1998."

That's off by quite a few years.

The village has been there since the early 1920s, or so.

Of course, Silver Lake Resort was established in 1916 and the Rush Creek Hydroelectric project was being built before that... But I mean by 'site' that the website has existed since 1998. Is it really that unclear ?

You're right. I didn't read it carefully the first time.

This page looks absolutely wonderful!! Who ever did this, great job! June lake and the June Lake Loop are one of my favorite places to get away from the Southern California heat. In fact, I'm heading back up in about 10 days.
thanks for sharing this with us ~

Yes I thought the site needed an upgrade -- now we are fully interactive and people can submit their own stories and post comments, etc. --I am still busy transferring some of the content over from the old site to this new one, but I figured it was good enough to launch on August 1. I am gratified and encouraged by the early positive response.

Great new "home" page! And yes, 1998 is very clear. Wish we were closer to enjoy the area more often.

we love june lake...we were up there 3 weeks ago for our yearly visit from socal ~always a bummer to leave. We always camp in June Lake and use it as our base camp. We then go to Mammoth, Yosemite, Lee Vining, Bridgeport and all those fantastic places........oh yes don't forget the Mobil mini mart on 395 & Hwy 120 yummy food and groceries...I wish I could come back up and check out the fall colors...I love the web cam. We drove thru this year and spotted it. I love looking for all the web cams while we are up there. I also spotted the one at Tioga Pass...no wonder it goes offline in snow. Barbaraellen

I lived at Crowley Lake from 1970 to 1977 and at June Lake from 1977 to 1987 when I left there for here on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

I knew Dan for the 10 years I lived there and worked with him for 4 years when I was there. He and his Dad taught me many things. Dan even had the first computer I had ever worked with. An old Apple I I E. 2 disk Drives! It was SOTA back then...

He was the Best of Friends even to this day, 22 years later. My youngest son bears his name in remembrance of his friendship and for the support he gave me during some trying times.

I miss Dan and June Lake. Someday, I may get back that way.

I have been camping around June Lake since I was just a little kid. We will be there tomorrow for a short 3 days but 3 is better than nothing. I love it there and wouldn't want to camp and fish anywhere else. I love the web site and the web cam. Feels like I am there even when I can't be. Keep up the great work you are doing in improving the site. God Bless, The Bathgate family

I have visited the WEB Site many many times. So glad to see that you have taken a greater interest in it. Those of us from So. Cal, who love the Eastern Sierra, need a daily "fix". Thanks again.

It's great to see the site post back up and active again - now we've got some chatter to check out along with the daily dose of live webcam. Hope to start seeing some fishing reports too.

Nice newsletter. You are surrounded by the Inyo National forest, and I am surprised you don't even mention it in your newsletter. It is a spectacular National Forest the covers the crest of the eastern Sierra from Bridgeport south to Lone Pine area. What a beautiful place to have in your backyard.
