I was contacted by Alicia Vennos of the County with regard to the contract for reimbusement of expenses for our winter activities.  She indicated that it is important to act right away to have the Chamber approve the contract.  As this needs a Board vote (per my understanding) I am forwarding a motion (via this email) to the board members as follows:

I propose that we accept the contract with Mono County to act as an intermediary / independent contractor to facilitate having the county fund several winter expenditures as have been discussed in previous Chamber meetings and in the CAC.

Could I ask one of you board members to 2nd the motion and all other Board Members to vote? Perhaps Dan Roberts can count the responses and make sure that we have a quorum voting and that the motion passes.  If we can get this done before the weekend it will be a tremendous help to Alicia who has to track down a signature from County Administration as soon as possible.  Please see the attached copy of the contract if you want or need to review it.

Background information:

I think we have had a favorable response from the Chamber members about handling the disbursement of funds for our Winter Activities that include:

A.) Saturday Night Music

B.) Winter Festival and Triple Threat Race

C.) Snowmobile Rally

We have already spent over $4,000 for some of these expenditures and the contract with the county is the way to replenish these Chamber Funds.

We have reviewed the activities with our liability insurance and are comfortable that they are covered and not exposing Board Members or the Chamber to any undue risks

These activites will help promote business in the Village of June Lake and attract visitors that may not have been here before

The timing is rather critical as three of the main signators for the County (Brian Muir - gone, Rita Sherman - contract not renewed and on vacation until her final day, Jim Arkens - final day is Feb 4th.).  Alicia is planning to have Jim sign when he is in Mammoth next week.

Thank you for all you do to support June Lake

Warm Regards,

Ralph Lockhart

Vice President
