Message from 2019 Board President

Dear Chamber Members, 

On behalf of your 2019 Board, I would like to share with you some of the things we are focusing on for the coming year.  

First of all, please know that our board is committed to enhancing our marketing presence and awareness while balancing the quality of “Life in the Loop” we all cherish.  We are reviewing what, how and why we do things on behalf of our community and making changes that will move us toward these goals. 

We are scheduling regular board meetings (6pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the JL Community Center) to make collaboration and attendance easier for more members.  All Chamber members are cordially invited to attend.

We are establishing a calendar of new events, quarterly mixers, special speakers and trainings that will aid members in marketing their own business while promoting the “Loop” as a whole. 

We are also establishing standing committees to focus on specific work to be accomplished.  We have established a marketing committee, chaired by Vice President Jamie Schectman, which has already started on a plan and begun marketing activities.  We have a Winter Fest committee chaired by Secretary Lindsey Chargin, to help facilitate a less complicated version of this long standing event (SAVE THE DATE - March 2nd).  We are in the early stages of planning our new signature event, Leaves in the Loop (SAVE THE DATE - October 18-20).

Please note, the Board is not the Chamber.  We volunteer to provide leadership and organizational support to the membership.  We welcome all Chamber members to attend our regular board meetings, serve on committees and participate in events.  We welcome your new ideas, skills and enthusiasm.  

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the membership and bylaws review committees, as well as host Chamber mixers.  Let us know if you are interested in participating and collaborating with us.

As one community member has reminded me, “all boats rise when the water rises”.
