1. Call to Order: 10:10am

2. Members Present: Jamie Schetman, Abigail Ross, Janet Hunt, Connie Lear, Amanda Spencer, Mitch McMullen, Ralph Lockhart

3. Approval of April Minutes: Connie motioned to approve, Jamie seconded, motion passed.     

4. Financial report: Tabled. Janet to collect information from Dan.

5. Member Reports

  • Jamie: Seeing a growing group of tourists. Looking into outside dining. Need to get the message out to folks in the area that masks are required. Should we provide signage for businesses that are open?  
  • Amanda: Planning on opening Little Loopers June 1. Using extreme caution. 
  • Abigail: June Lake Cares, a branch of the June Lake Loop Women’s Club is up and running. Weddings at June Mountain have been canceled for the month of June.
  • Connie: Taking reservations as of June 1. There are many folks from out of town here.  Trying to figure out new cleaning policies, what’s doable, what’s not. 
  • Mitch: June Lake Marina is getting roll on June 1. Boats will be cleaned after each use. 
  • Ralph: Working towards opening the restaurant for to-go orders. First two weeks of weddings in the month of June have been canceled. 

6.  Committee Reports:    

  1. Marketing 
  • Talked about revenue stream coming to a halt since we are not collecting dues this year. $9,000 is earmarked for marketing however,  we’re not going to spend until it’s time to get the word out that June Lake is open.. 
  • Mono County Visitors Guide- Continued. 
  • Radio has discontinued. 
  • Looking into Sirius/ Pandora, FB/ Instagram ads
  • Mammoth Channel 
  • $5,000 for new Website
  • New Town Banners & Planters: Could spend money on this now. 
  • Ad Agency: Should have something to share this week.
  • The agency is working on a June Lake Point of Interest Map with QR codes.  

        2. Membership - The outreach script is in our shared folders. If you have some time to spare to reach out to businesses, please add your name to the contact list. Amanda said folks are very grateful to be reached out to. Some still want to pay dues for 2020. 

         3. Events

  • Leaves in the Loop: Tabled
  • Fishing Summit: When the dates are solid for opening, we can create a better plan however, starting June 1 fishing will be open in Mono County. The Fishing Summit would be a social distantace presentation with Jeff Simpson. It’s likely we should hear something this week from our Board of Supervisors.  
  • Other: Some type of event that will draw folks to the loop, or fun things we can do. Amanda brought up a Fly Fishing Festival for 2021, after Fishmas/ before summer. Three day event with vendors and kids activities, etc. She is going to start the research and create contacts now. Silver Lake does have a fly fishing camp for children every summer. Amanda and Mitch to start the ball rolling. Ralph would like to see something for 4th of July 2021, like a laser light show at the June Mountain Parking lot. Other ideas- Chili cook-off, swap meet, season long biggest fish contest or season long photo contest, art contest, June Lake Bucks, town coupon booklet, Janet to create a Google Doc to put all this together and keep the brainstorm going.    

                                                                                                  
7. Old Business:

  1. Food Bank Update: Two folks no longer need help. Eight people had signed up, all received two deliveries. No new sign ups. Tiger Bar donated, High Sierra Energy donated light bulbs and coupons for SCE. The Women’s Club received a $1,000 donation to go towards food. Sign ups are still available at the General Store. Amanda can post the information via Social Media. Amanda will look into starting a closed FB business group.  
  2. COVID-19 Update
  • Connecting Community to Support and Services

    • June Lake CARES ( though the June Lake Loop Womens Club) 

      • Contact: Abigail Ross 760-914-0437, Jodie Aas 760-914-1400, Ellen Obenberger 760-209-3016 or Sergio Santillan (Spanish speaking) 760-648-3342 to request assistance. To donate, checks can be mailed to the June Lake Loop Womens Club at PO Box 281, June Lake, CA 93529. Please put June Lake Cares in the memo line. 
  • Mono County Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) - Ralph and the rest of the committee are working on a document to establish reopening procedures. The health department has many items to add to it. The are advocating to make sure we’re looking out for the most vulnerable members of our tourists and community. 

8. New Business:

  1. Website discussion  - visitjunelakeloop.com proposal through Sarah Walsh. She is looking to sell her new website to us at the price tag of $10,000- $7,000. Payment upfront of $3,000 and the rest by August 2021. Sarah will continue to maintain the site for now. A new website will help us to rebrand. Janet will go back to Sarah to see if we can negotiate further, possibly include ads, smaller payments over a longer period of time. Jamie motioned to have Janet to go back to Sarah to see what other options are available to acquire the site for $7,000 and adding free advertising, a lifetime membership and smaller payments over time. Abi seconded. Discussion to amend the motion to include advertising available to both web designers. Motion passed. 
  2. New committees recruitment -  beautification, economic recovery, etc. these are also tied to the membership drive. Sarah Walsh has mentioned she would like to be a part of the beautification committee. Janet will send a form for data collection from the members. Ralph will reach out to Bob Gardener, the membership committee is also leading the charge. There is an urgency to start this so that we’re beautiful when we reopen. Amanda will reach out to Tonye in Bishop to discuss planters.  
  3. Insurance Renewal - $857 will hit the bank. 

9. Items from the Floor:
 Eastern Sierra Chamber alliance- Jamie said they are trying to get the Tioga Pass open sooner. Board of Supervisors said the pass will be open to the kiosk on Friday 5/15.
