6. Committee Reports:
Marketing - Decided to divert funds to porta potties and dumpsters. Looking to start spending marketing dollars possibly in the fall. New logo is complete and is paused to launch. Has anyone seen a slight reduction in business? Ralph mentioned things are still quite busy. Bridgeport noticed a drop off. Jury still seems to be out on a reduction in tourism. Over 10,000 followers on Instagram!
Membership - no report
Events
Leaves in the Loop - Discussion to decide how to proceed this year. The committee is distant. Janet is not able to help. Doesn’t seem like we have the bandwidth to do it. Consideration was to do something online, however, there already seems to be an increase in fall tourism. Ralph is willing to donate prizes to solicit photos in an online photo contest. County marketing money towards online advertising and possibly prize money? Ralph is willing to help with donations and manage the online photo contest.
7. Old Business:
COVID-19 Update - Mono County Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) - Ralph
The admin of Mammoth Lakes Chamber invited all to be free members in unincorporated parts of Mono County. Updates on TOML and County ad spend on how to be safe here, i.e. “Wear a mask” campaign. We are tending towards having an October like September. Spanish meetings are occurring for businesses. There is money for training employees with $65,000 towards that. Additional funding possibly coming in. How do we get off the state’s monitoring list? It’s up to Dr. Boo but they all work with state officials. Looking to pressure the state officials to offer inside dining options for the coming winter.
Follow up on Dumpsters and Porta Potties - Janet has added additional service for the dumpsters and porta potties for the coming month. The use seems unprecedented. Bob will take the receipts for the services to the county for hopeful reimbursement. Abi motioned to continue these services through October. Amanda seconded.
Discussion- find out if the county will reimburse us. Prorating is possible. Motion rescinded. Service is continued through Labor Day at present.
Bylaws Review and Revisions - Tabled until Sept. Please take a look at Janet’s additions to corrections and revisions.
8. New Business:
June Lake Trails Adopt a Trail Program (Sarah Crawford) - Matt Paruolo, Eastern Sierra Sustainable Recreation Coordinator, helps with the June Lake Trails Committee and is ready to accept adoptees to the loop trails. They are looking for fiscal sponsors; $1,500: covers, waste management, trash, maintenance, water bars, stone work, etc. They have seen an increase in trail “use”. Would the Chamber like to adopt a trail? Sept. 22-26 is disbursed clean up week. They need help with supplemental funds to continue the program to be virtuous. There is additional funding coming in, fingers crossed. We need to take a look at the budget, before making a decision. Could collaborate with the rest of the members to donate to the program.
Is it for trails in the loop?
There are options throughout Mono/Inyo/FS/BLM. Currently two trails are available to adopt on the website.
Is the $1,500 per trail?
Yes. It can buy tools to landscape, or bring in porta potties, dog bags, trash receptacles, etc.
Current funding is coming from?
County, TOML, around $10,000 a year.
Would donors be able to see what their money was spent on?
Yes, there will be an end of year report with descriptions of who adopted and what happened at said trails.
Do you work with the forest service? Or have an established relationship?
Yes, there is an agreement with the FS and other agencies using private donor mone

Support of Sierra Trash Eliminators (Janet) - You can join on FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/822245001642339 Janet asked how we can support the effort. Recreation has donated some money towards her efforts. What if the Chamber helped with designed hats for the donations to the cause? They have our new logos on them. They only cost $5. John made a $300 motion to the cause, Ralph second, motion passed. Sarah will donate additional tee-pee.
9. Items from the Floor:
Trash crews get a free slice of pizza at June Pie. Hermitage is also contributing to volunteers.
Banners: New ones in the works, could have the new logo? Maybe winter says: Glad you’re here! Enjoy the snow; masks are required :)
