Meeting Minutes
Items in bold, highlight an opportunity for attendance/participation.
1. Call to order – Meeting called to order @ 11:02AM by Board Member, Janet Hunt. In attendance; Joe Bogorad, Lindsey Chargin, John DeCoster, Janet Hunt, Ralph Lockhart, Jenny McMullen, Mitch McMullen, Jamie Schectman, Sarah Walsh and on the phone, Abigail Ross.
2. Approve minutes – Jamie Schectman motioned, Lindsey Chargin seconded, 11/21/18 minutes were approved unanimously.
3. Financial report – Treasurer, Dan Roberts, submitted financials for 9/19/18 – 12/19/18 via email. The current balance is $16,372.68. The handout can be found here /files/imagepicker/G/GPRV/jllcoc_treas_rpt_12-19-2018.pdf.
a. In the coming weeks, the incoming President and Treasurer will be meeting with Dan to discuss and handoff the Chamber accounting.
i. Items to be checked on – Quickbooks account, non-profit status and Statement of Information.
4. Membership – No membership report was given.
5. 2019 Board of Directors Officers – Volunteers from the new Board of Directors (elected in October) came forward for each officer position. The Slate of Officers was sent out to the membership in a 12/5/18 email. Ralph Lockhart motioned to approve, Jamie Schectman seconded, and the 2019 Slate of Officers was approved unanimously.

6. Presentation from June Lake Loop Historical Society – President, Heidi Vetter
a. The June Lake Loop Historical Society will be taking over half of the Sheriff’s Sub-Station (next to the Thrift Store) for a June Lake Museum. They are hoping to open this summer on Saturdays and Sundays, with staff available to give visitors information. The Society will be seeking volunteers for this effort.
b. Coming soon, the Society will be putting on “Local History Night” on the second Tuesday of the month from 3pm to 5pm at the T-Bar Social Club. Everyone is welcome to share and hear stories and memories about the June Lake Loop.
c. The Society is looking to hold a Heritage Day in 2019 with multiple events that focus on history of The Loop. Stay tuned for more information and details.

7. Events
a. The Marketing Sub-Committee met on 12/12/18 to discuss possible 2019 events and applying for the Community Event Marketing Fund (CEMF) from Mono County. The event ideas and the discussion that took place at this meeting are listed below.
i. Eastern Sierra Fishing Summit – Prior to 4/27/19 Opener
1. Mitch McMullen will head up this event and committee. If you are interested in helping out, please contact him at mitchmcmullen52@gmail.com.
ii. A Fishing Derby – Prior to mid-June.
iii. A sporting event/competition such as ice climbing, rock climbing, or stand-up paddle boarding (which could include all 4 lakes).
iv. Fall Colors + Taste of the Town on 10/13/19-10/14/19 or 10/20/19-10/21/19
1. This is the event that the committee thinks the Chamber should apply for the CEMF.
a. The CEMF if specifically for advertising events outside of Mono County.
2. Sarah Walsh noted that there is also an “Arts” grant available that can be used for actual event expenditures.
3. Janet Hunt will head up the Fall Colors Event committee and will work with the committee on applying for both the CEMF and Arts funds.
a. If you are interested in helping with this event there will be a committee meeting on 12/21/18 at 5pm at the Community Center. You can also contact Janet Hunt at hunthouse.junelake@gmail.com.
v. An event focused on the Hispanic Population – The committee is contacting “Latino Outdoors” for more information.
b. June Lake Loop Winter Fest
i. Ralph Lockhart gave an overview of what the Winter Fest has previously entailed (snowmobile rally, snow sculptures, family fun zone, pet parade, etc.) and wondered if the Chamber wants to do it again this yeer.
ii. Discussion took place and there is interest in a scaled down version for 2019. The idea of a snow art competition with a walk about town seemed to be favorable.
iii. John DeCoster, Janet Hunt, and Ralph Lockhart will work on the event further. If you are interested in helping out please contact Janet at hunthouse.junelake@gmail.com.

10. Internet and Public Information
a. The website is now being updated by Dan Roberts and Janet Hunt.
b. Mono County says the Chamber has a site that was developed years ago that is just sitting in cyberspace – Janet will look into it.
c. Discussion took place regarding the need to have one central site that visitors are directed to.
11. Items from the floor
a. A discussion took place regarding moving the monthly Chamber meetings to later in the day, in order to be easier for business owners/managers/employees to make it to the meetings. Chamber meetings will now be held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00-7:30 PM. The next meeting is 1/9/19.
b. A survey will be going out to the membership soon, regarding future planning and Chamber goals for 2019.
