It appears that there will not be a board quorum available for this Wednesday morning's meeting, so no actions requiring a vote will be immediately possible.  There are some progress reports and items of interest should you choose to attend. 

Also, I have attached a copy of the 'Radio Spots' that have been planned for us to be played on KMMT.  Mono Tourism is asking for local feedback on these radio scripts.

Today's Chamber meeting was well attended:  Thanks are due to those who participated, especially those who drove here from miles away on a snowy morning.

We did not have a board quorum for an official vote and one item in particular was raised which requires our action.

The regular meeting date for the June Lake Chamber of Commerce board is upcoming, this Wednesday, January 9 at 10:00 am in the June Lake Community Center (Blue Room).

I will prepare an agenda to cover updates from committees and progress on our projects.  If you have items you wish to be included please email them to me.

My apologies for personally being "out of the Loop" over the holiday period.  Snowboard instruction at Main Lodge in Mammoth has kept me busy dawn to dusk for the last fifteen days.

Dear Friends and Partners in June Lake - 

The June Lake Chamber of Commerce, Revitalization Committee and Mono County Tourism are launching a series of events that we want you to be aware of: Winter Festival and Triple Threat Winter Triathlon; Saturday Music Series; and a March Snowmobile Rally. 

I am attaching a copy of the draft Contract with Mono County for funding of the winter events, forwarded to me by Alicia Vennos.  We each need to read and evaluate the contract for approval.  I have noted one correction:   that our correct legal name is June Lake Loop Chamber of Commerce.

The contract has been reviewed by Mono County Counsel as to form, and is awaiting approval by Risk Management.

Please review the contract and respond to this email with any comments, questions and concerns to be forwarded to the County.

Please help me understand and or clarify.

I have several questions and issues with the agreement/contract:

I receieved this inquiry from Gold Rush Adventure Racing, they hold an annual race in September and want to have it here in June Lake, with an awards banquet.  Would anyone be interested in offering Lodging (It may require participation by more than one property) and/or the Awards Banquet (the Banquet could possibly be catered at the Community Center)?

I just got a bill from the mammoth times for $1438.00 for the Poker Rally adds. Is this also something the County will reimburse us for? Who placed it? Seems pricey and should be something they at least reduce the price on.

My personal feeling is the mammoth times is a perfect waste of trees and ink.

The 2013-14 Mono County Visitor Guide is in the making, and Alicia Vennos of Mono County Tourism Dept., has asked that the chamber provide our local input into how the June Lake section is composed.  Also, the Chamber will once again sponsor a full-page display ad on the back cover of the Mono County Visitor Guide.

I’m writing to you to get some feedback on a very exciting event that Mammoth would like us to put together. We all know the hardships we went through last season and to help give back to the community we would like to offer the locals of our area the 13-14 June Mountain Season Pass at a very reasonable price. This local’s sale would be at June Mountain hopefully coinciding with maybe a Fall Chamber mixer. Only those that physically show up will be eligible for the local’s discount. Here are the dates we are proposing:

June Lake Loop Chamber of Commerce News Highlights

The June Lake Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit, 
membership-based California Corporation. It has existed since 1961. We currently have a duly nominated and elected board of eight directors. We are a civic organization, and our primary responsibility is to conduct activities that benefit the entire community of June Lake 
and the County of Mono, but with particular respect to our dues-paying membership.



At our last chamber meeting Carl Williams announced that June Mountain will be hosting a CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MIXER at the Chalet on January 16 from 2:00-4:00 pm.

MIXER!!  --come join us at the June Mountain Chalet on  Thursday January 16, 2:00-4:00 pm.

REMINDER:

Come show community support for the June Mountain Ski Area, and enjoy an afternoon at the Chalet during the June Lake Loop Chamber of Commerce Mixer event tomorrow, January 16, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

It looks as though it will be another beautiful sunny afternoon, and should be a great time to spend at the Mixer (although we would all probably rather see stormy weather about now...)

If you don't have a pass to ride Chair 1 up to the Chalet building, stop at the Ticket Office to obtain one.

The June Lake Loop Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Coggno.com, is happy to announce a new service for our membership.  We are now offering a selection of online training courses for purchase directly from the Chamber website.

The US Postal Service will be meeting at the June Lake Post Office today at 1:00 pm.  They are considering a "discontinuance study" for our local post office, unless they can get support from 60% of local customers.

If you want to see our local post office continue to operate into the future, it is important to make an effort to attend this meeting.

Due to support and positive response from the community, the June Lake Post Office will continue to remain open, with its current hours and dispatch times unchanged.

In a small town such as ours, the local Post Office continues to play a traditional role, acting as a hub for face-to-face meeting among the residents, and helping to maintain a sense of cohesion as a community.

Use it or lose it:  Let's all remember to use and support our local post office services in our own respective communities, to show that we value the services offered.  Keep it local.

Hello all,

I finally got a reply from Kristi down in Chatsworth regarding our planned mixer/meeting at the Carson Peak Inn.

They are exicited to be able to host our mixer, very happy to provide us with the bar room, along with a donation of some favorite CPI appetizers, and iced tea or soda. Beer and wine will be available on a no-host basis.

We'll be holding a Mixer/Reception and General Membership Meeting of the June Lake Loop Chamber of Commerce on September 30 (next Wednesday) between 4:00 and 6:00 pm.  The Carson Peak Inn is very graciously hosting, and we hope that all members will be able to attend, along with other community members, who are invited to come and get to know the Chamber.

Finance Report

All June Lake businesses are invited to a meeting with Southern California Edison (SCE) this coming Monday June 19 at 4:00 PM in the Community Center. SCE will be making a presentation about their current work on the Rush Creek Dam System, and the associated runoff expected this summer. This meeting is for businesses only. A meeting for the general June Lake community will be held at 6:00 PM that same evening.

Dear June Lake Chamber Members,

On Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 6:00 PM in the June Lake Community Center, we will be holding a meeting to discuss planning for the 2018 summer ESTA Free Shuttle Bus. As you will remember, this summer we made the shuttle bus free through $2500 in generous donations from several June lake businesses. Ridership more than doubled this summer over 2016.

Our meeting to discuss the 2018 summer free June Lake Shuttle Bus has been changed to Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6:00 PM in the June Lake Community Center. This is one week later than the time I noted in my previous email. I hope to see you there.

Thanks again to those of you who have stepped up and contributed to ESTA this summer to make the shuttle free for all riders. We have raised $2,050 in donations from our community businesses. I appreciate your support very much.

We are short just $600 to make the required $2650 contribution for the summer. I am asking those of you who have not contributed to make a donation of $100 to $200 to get us to our goal.

Checks can be made out to Eastern Sierra Transit Authority, with a note stating "June Lake Free Shuttle".

The Mono County Board of Supervisors is currently planning their budget year. As Mono County's largest transit occupancy tax (TOT) contributor (June Lake contributes 57%), the Chamber Board would like your input on how to allocate expenses. The results of this survey will be shared with the Board of Supervisors prior to their final budget meeting.

The survey will only take a couple of minutes to complete.
We would appreciate it if you complete it by next Monday, August 21st.

The Mono County Supervisors, at their meeting in Bridgeport at 9:00am, will be discussing the 2019/20 budget.  The Chamber has communicated with the board in support of continued funding for trophy fish stocking.  Attend this meeting if you can, to urge the Supervisors to provide adequate funds for the Fish Stocking Program.

Hello, Mono County Partners –

Happy Fall!

As the colors start to change throughout Mono County, we wanted to send a quick note with a few resources to assist you and visitors to Mono County:

At the last June Lake Chamber of Commerce meeting, there was some more discussion about the importance of fish stocking, it's impact on our local economy and making sure that local businesses were able to voice their concerns as input into the Mono County budget process.   While some folks have spoken in previous meetings, this topic will again be discussed at the next Board of Supervisors Meeting on 10/2.

As per the Chamber Bylaws, we have scheduled our Annual General Membership meeting for Wednesday, October 17th, at 5pm at the T-Bar Social Club (former Sierra Inn building). This event is a mixer, with food, beverage and raffle prizes, giving the June Lake business community an opportunity to network and get better acquainted.  The Lift will be catering this event for us.

With a sound base in place, and visitation increasing in Mammoth, we're going to open on Saturday, December 15 here at June Mountain . Help spread the word, posts on our social channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) are up with the celebratory news. 

Chair one will open to the public at 8am on Saturday followed by our banner break through on J2 at 8:30am and then toast to the season at 11am.
